Louis Vuitton Sued Over Art Fraud

An art collector has filed a lawsuit against fashion designer Louis Vuitton over some leather prints he purchased for $12,000 at the L.A Museum of Contemporary Art. Turns out the leather prints were merely discarded scraps of leather from Louis Vuitton handbags.

The lawsuit alleges that neither Louis Vuitton nor the museum disclosed that the prints were made from purse scraps, which demonstrates an intent to defraud art collectors.

Specifically the lawsuit alleges that the failure to provide the information constitutes a violation of California’s Fine Prints Act.

The lawsuit is asking for the purchase price back plus interest from the date of the sale.
